ORICO 2577U3 Mobile Hard Disk Box Tool-Free SATA Enclosure for 2TB 9.5mm HDD
The ORICO 2577U3 mobile hard disk box offers a practical solution for anyone needing to access a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive without the frustration of fiddling with screws or tools. Designed for straightforward reuse of older drives, this enclosure supports capacities up to 2TB and fits drives with a thickness of 9.5mm or less. Its compact ABS construction and USB 3.0 Micro B interface make it a simple addition to a desk or travel bag, compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems out of the box.
Features and Construction
This enclosure is built around two key priorities: quick, tool-free hard drive installation, and reliable data transfer via modern interfaces. The ABS shell keeps the unit light and easy to handle.
Material and Build
The outer shell uses ABS material, a tough plastic that gives the enclosure a solid feel while remaining light enough to carry in a pocket or case. The black finish hides minor scuffs well, and the compact 126.5x80x15mm size means it takes up minimal space on a desk or in a bag.
Size and Practical Fit
At just 15mm thick, the enclosure accommodates standard 2.5-inch SATA hard drives with a thickness of 9.5mm or less. This includes most laptop drives and many older external HDDs. There is no room for thicker 12.5mm or 15mm drives, so checking drive height before purchasing is worthwhile.
Uses and Placement
The ORICO 2577U3 is suited for both professional and home scenarios where quick access to stored data matters.
Event or Professional Use
IT technicians or data recovery specialists can slot a client's drive into this enclosure for immediate read/write access without needing a full docking station. The tool-free design speeds up swaps between drives during diagnostics or file transfers.
Everyday Home Use
At home, the enclosure turns an old laptop hard drive into a portable backup device or media storage unit. Plug it into a TV, games console, or desktop PC via USB 3.0 (or USB 2.0 backwards compatible) to access files without cloud uploads.
Benefits and Buying Value
The main buying arguments centre on simplicity, compatibility, and reuse.
Reuse and Low Maintenance
Instead of throwing away a working 2.5-inch SATA drive, this enclosure gives it a second life as external storage. No screws, no cables except the USB lead, and no software to install make everyday use as easy as sliding and plugging.
Why Choose This Product
If you already own a 2.5-inch SATA drive and need a straightforward way to connect it via USB 3.0, the ORICO 2577U3 delivers a tool-free process at a compact size. Its SATA 3.0 support ensures the drive's internal speed isn't bottlenecked, while the ABS shell provides a lightweight, protective housing.
