Dual Segment Intercom UV-5R High Power Walkie Talkie with 2800mAh Battery and 128 Channels
Stay connected over distances from 1 to 15 kilometres with this versatile dual-segment intercom. Covering both VHF (136-174MHz) and UHF (400-520MHz) bands, the UV-5R handles a wide range of frequencies, making it suitable for mountain climbing, road trips, and everyday driving communication. With selectable power output of 1W, 5W, or 10W, you can match the signal strength precisely to your environment and local regulations. The 2800mAh lithium battery provides extended talk time, and the radio's compact size keeps it comfortable to carry all day.
Features and Construction
Built for reliable two-way communication, the UV-5R combines a robust set of features with straightforward operation. The full accessory kit means you have everything you need out of the box.
Dual Frequency Band
Operating on both 136-174MHz and 400-520MHz, this walkie-talkie covers the most common amateur and commercial bands. This dual-segment capability allows you to communicate with other radios on different frequency ranges without needing a second device.
Power and Range
Three power levels (1W, 5W, and 10W) give you control over your transmission range and battery life. At the highest 10W setting, the theoretical distance reaches up to 15 kilometres in open terrain, while lower settings conserve power for shorter-range group use.
Channel Capacity
With 128 programmable channels, you can store and quickly switch between different groups or locations. This is especially useful for coordinating between multiple teams during outdoor expeditions or events.
Uses and Placement
Whether you're hiking in the hills or coordinating a convoy on the road, the UV-5R is designed for active, mobile communication.
Outdoor Adventures
Mountain climbing, hiking, and camping often place you out of mobile phone coverage. A two‑way radio with a 1‑15km range keeps your group in touch along the trail, in valleys, or between campsites.
Travel and Driving
For road trips, convoys, or off-grid driving, the UV-5R lets you communicate between vehicles without relying on cellular networks. The back clip and lanyard make it easy to keep the radio within reach while driving.
Professional and Event Use
With its 128 channels and dual‑band coverage, this walkie-talkie is also practical for small‑scale events, construction sites, or security patrols where clear, immediate communication is needed.
Benefits and Buying Value
The UV-5R delivers broad compatibility, adjustable power, and long battery life in a portable package. Its included accessories mean you can start using it straight away.
Rechargeable Convenience
The 2800mAh lithium battery charges quickly via the included base charger, reducing the need for disposable batteries. A full charge supports several days of moderate use, depending on power settings and transmission frequency.
Complete Kit
Each unit comes with a battery, antenna, charger base, back clip, lanyard, and manual. You can attach it to your belt, strap it to a pack, or hang it around your neck, and the Fire Bull accessory adds further mounting flexibility.
Colour Options
Available in black, green, silver, or yellow, the UV-5R lets you choose a colour that suits your gear or personal preference. The black and green options blend into natural surroundings, while silver and yellow offer higher visibility.
